Good Will Hunting is an inspirational movie for people of all ages. It does not matter if you are not going through the same situation as Will is, it still inspires. One is shown that even if you have gone through a harsh life, if does not have to define you as a person. Who would ever expect a janitor to be a genius in math? First of all, nobody does; Will Hunting is an undiscovered genius in the math department, because he is only a janitor at a distinguished school, MIT. Today, people can have crummy jobs, simply because they didn’t have enough money to go to college, because their lazy, or because of the environment they were brought up in. During the first week of school, Hunting puts his genius skills to use and solves a highly complicated math problem. Nobody, including the professors in the school, can discover who solved the complex problem. Hunting is caught one night when he is solving another difficult problem put up on the chalkboard in the school hallway. When Hunting and his three friends fight men on the basketball court, a policeman tries to stop the brawl. Hunting of course fights the police officer; In addition, he is thrown in jail. Lambeau, a professor at MIT, goes to Hunting’s trial and offers him a deal; the troubled young man can either go to jail, or see a therapist and study math. Hunting goes through numerous therapists, who all believe he is crazy and cannot deal with him anymore. The troubled man is seen by a previous MIT graduate, Sean, who is a therapist that grew up in the same neighborhood as him. Sean tells Hunting many stories that involve him making decisions that are not so obvious, teaching Hunting to actually look at what his life is becoming. Hunting begins to reflect if he is happy or not with his life and the decisions he has made up to that point in time. Skylar, a woman who Hunting met at the bar asks him to go to California with him. Hunting becomes angry and refuses to go with her.
